Meet Augusto Gonçalves
FOUNDER, ABT STRATEGIES

Public Engagement Specialist & Veteran Political Strategist

Augusto Gonçalves is a leading political impact strategist, championing economic equity and inclusive growth through deep expertise at the highest levels of government, campaigns, and community engagement.

With over a decade of experience in public service, Augusto brings insider knowledge from his roles across federal, state, and local government. He served as Senior Advisor for Strategic Outreach in the White House Office of Political Strategy and Outreach and previously as an Advisor in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division. His public service journey began in municipal government with then–Boston City Councilor At-Large Ayanna Pressley.

Augusto’s commitment to advancing health and economic equity extends beyond government. He was Director of Strategic and Philanthropic Partnerships at The Health Initiative, a national nonprofit driving investments in the social determinants of health. At the Democratic National Committee, he led the African American Leadership Council, where he focused on engaging Black business and thought leaders nationally in order to increase the voice, participation, and influence of the Black community within the party through high-impact donor engagement and outreach initiatives.

A veteran of three presidential campaigns—Obama 2012, Clinton 2016, and Biden 2020—Augusto has worked at the intersection of strategy, mobilization, and coalition building. He also worked for The Collective PAC, a political action committee that recruits, trains, and supports Black candidates running for office nationwide.

As a first-generation Cape Verdean American, Augusto is deeply committed to expanding opportunity, ensuring communities of color have a seat at the table, and building coalitions that drive meaningful change. Whether shaping public policy, raising millions for candidates and causes, or advising cross-sector partners, he is passionate about mobilizing people and resources to catalyze meaningful and measurable impact.
